     2020-2021

Greetings Rotarians!

Come join team # 5 tomorrow (1/26) evening for Happy Hour at Blu from 5:00-6:30 p.m. It should be a fun opportunity to catch up with some of our friends we haven’t seen in a while!  The club will provide pizza, and feel free to bring your spouse or guest.  Please RSVP to Vicki Anderson at vickia@1nb.com.

Our program on Tuesday will be focused on the COVID-19 vaccine as we hear from Norman native, Sara King.
Sara is the Community Health Education and Planning Lead for Cleveland, Grady, Hughes, McClain, Pottawatomie, and Seminole county health departments. In her profession, she wears many hats, one of which includes being the public information officer during the COVID-19 response.

Sara has a B.A. in international studies and her master's in public health, both from the University of Oklahoma.  Sara’s birth certificate is from Norman Regional Hospital, so when she says she’s Sooner born and Sooner bred, she means it!

Sara has a list of talking points, but she knows our members will have lots of questions. Come prepared to get the updates you want.

Service Opportunities

I want to mention a couple of service opportunities for our club.  First, mark your calendar for Saturday, April 24 when District Governor Tim Eaton is sponsoring a day of service for clubs in our district.  Each club will collect donations from a wish list from one non-profit in our community.  We will establish a central location to collect donations where Rotarians can gather and organize the donations.
In the meantime, I noticed Food and Shelter has a void in their pantry right now! Items in need include canned meat, peanut butter, cereal, canned soups, canned vegetables, canned fruit and many other staples.

Donations can be dropped at 201 Reed Ave Norman from a.m. to p.m. Monday – Saturday or you can make a cash donation via the Venmo app to Laurie-Peterson-51, and let Food and Shelter shop for what they need.

Thank you to everyone who continues to meet with us via Zoom or who watches the recorded meetings on YouTube.

Look for this week's Zoom link in your email--I look forward seeing everyone on Tuesday!

Yours in Service,

Jonna

P.S. Continued thanks to those who have signed up as club duty volunteers! More are always needed. You can find the club duties spreadsheet by clicking on this link: Sooner Rotary Club Duties.  Please fill up the open slots only for leading the prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance and 4-Way Test while we continue to meet online. If you have difficulty access this document, feel free to email Bill Wallace which club meeting(s) you want to volunteer to fill. Thank you!
