The topic for this year’s contest is:
“How Can Using the Four-Way Test Make the World a Better Place?”
The Rotary Four-Way Test of the things we think, say, or do: 1. Is it the truth? 2. Is it fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The target time for the speech is 5-7 minutes. |

Join the Oklahoma Blood Institute and your Rotary club for a blood drive. You can schedule a donation at one of the donor sites (Monday - Saturday), as early as 7:30am and as late as 6:00 PM. OBI (Oklahoma Blood Institute) set up a system last year where we can track the number of donors from each club (last year was just the Norman clubs). It was a friendly challenge among the clubs (we used % participation, not raw number of donors to determine the most donors) and we had 28 donations total. This year, I hope to add more clubs, maybe have the Norman clubs combined to challenge some in the City, who knows what it will look like. So, there are a couple of issues, there is not a donation site in Purcell or Newcastle, to donate, people would have to be in Norman or OKC (The Norman site is just south of Robinson on NW 24th ST., the OKC donation sight is off Lincoln, its easy to get in and out of and plenty of free parking.) OBI has a program where there are 15 or more donors, they will donate $10 or $15 to a charity of your choosing (I’ll get more details on this program and share later this week.) The good thing is you can schedule an appointment at either location, Monday thru Saturday. They of course give a T shirt to each donor and you get cookies and drinks while you are there. We do it over a two week period so that everyone has a chance to participate (and if you are a platelet donor, you can get in there more than once!) OBI will print up flyers and then I’ll attend one of your regularly scheduled meetings to spread the word and answer any questions. |
