"From English teacher to fan favorite."

Norman author and former English teacher Nicole Waggoner spoke to our club about her experiences writing and marketing her first book "Center Ring" which was published in the spring of 2016. Since then she has written the second of the trilogy titled, "The Axe." Both books are part of  "The Circus of Women Trilogy" that chronicles the friendship of five professional women, juggling career, family, romance, ambition and identify.

Waggoner was totally new to publishing with her first book and learned during a trip to New York about the importance of pitching the book. She knows the heartbreak of being "dumped" by her first publishing company and although she was picked up by another publishing house for her first book, she has now decided to self-publish her second book in 2017 and third book in 2018 through Amazon, using the same tough editor Annie Tucker. As far as writer's block, Waggoner said she finds a change of scenery helps her push through to begin writting again. Her characters have been recognized by readers as being very relatable, and she has been invited to attend a special event with other authors and Oprah Winfrey later this year. While the majority of her books are sold online, Waggoner carries some in her trunk which she's happy to sell and sign. Waggoner likes to help new writers and appreciates the support she has received from friends and book club members who have provided feedback on her books while she is writing.
